We are a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) formerly BERR.  Tasked with ensuring the efficient and effective management of the public funding allocated to us by Government, we’re accountable through our Chairman to the Secretary of State and through our Chief Executive - via the BIS Permanent Secretary - to Parliament.

We’re focused on ensuring we make a positive and measurable impact on the region’s economy and a recent national evaluation has indicated that for every £1 invested we are achieving a return of £7.45.

We were also proud to be awarded a 4 out of 4 (performing strongly) rating following a National Audit Office Independent Performance Assessment in 2007 and have achieved the Investors in Excellence standard in 2007, 2008 and 2009.  We were also Midlands Excellence Awards finalists in 2008 and 2009.
