Located at the Coventry University Technology Park, the Design Hub provides companies across the West Midlands with access to first class design facilities, equipment and skills.
Opened by Sir George Cox in May 2007, a key focus of the facility is to provide a centre where companies, design experts and graduates can collaborate and share their skills with the aim of making product design and design innovation a key part of the development process.
Companies can benefit from the wide-ranging expertise that is on hand from university specialists and draw upon the existing business support infrastructure to invigorate their business ideas and product development needs.
Sir George Cox, author of the Cox Review of Creativity in Business, said: "Since my report was completed there has been a strong shift in understanding of the importance of design and how we prepare our designers, technologists and future managers to blend each others' skills more effectively. The Design Hub should put Coventry in the forefront of this movement."
Since opening in 2007, the Design Hub has been a showcase and centre of excellence for high level design initiatives. As a professional, modern, creative space, the Hub plays host to start-up businesses, training initiatives, creative exploration and pro-active collaboration projects. In house design support is available from the Design Institute, with collaboration from the Health Design and Technology Institute (HDTI) and other university experts to achieve informed and up to date results.
Within the Hub's inspirational environment, businesses have the opportunity to host meetings, training courses and product demonstrations. Facilities include an IT Solutions Suite, Presentation Suite, meeting room, hot desk facilities and breakout area. With over 20 IMacs, 3 way image projection and fully ergonomic seating, the Design Hub is fully equipped to meet the demands of design.
