About Birmingham and Solihull

Birmingham, one of Europe’s largest cities, beats at the very heart of the West Midlands.  A dynamic business and leisure city, Birmingham is a diverse and lively mix of shopping, attractions, nightlife, major international events and exhibitions with easy access to beautiful countryside. This is the business and cultural capital of our region.

Birmingham has played host to many national and international events from the Eurovision Song Contest to the G8 Summit. Internationally renowned for the quality of its sporting events, the city boasts international cricket at Edgbaston, Premiership football, Davis Cup tennis and the Indoor Athletics Championships.

Birmingham also offers a range of tourist attractions and places of interest to reflect all tastes. The world famous City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra resides at Symphony Hall which also plays host to a variety of musical events. The recently refurbished Birmingham Hippodrome is home to the Birmingham Royal Ballet and is a regular venue for the Welsh National Opera.

Each year, Birmingham’s International Convention Centre plays host to millions of conference and exhibition delegates from around the world. The National Exhibition Centre in Solihull stages more exhibitions than any other major European centre, including some of the UK’s top trade and public events such as the Clothes Show Live and Crufts.
