About Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire

Staffordshire has a long history of manufacturing innovation that is still prevalent today.  Engineering, brewing and the ceramics industry are still strongly represented sectors in the county.

Staffordshire is home to two leisure parks in Alton Towers and Drayton Manor Park as well as Europe’s first real snow indoor ski slop at Tamworth. For a more relaxing experience, the Staffordshire countryside offers fabulous walking territory at Cannock Chase and the Staffordshire Moorlands.

Staffordshire has many historic houses including the 18th Century mansion, museum and working farm of Shrugborough and Weston Park.

The city of Stoke-on-Trent developed rapidly following the Industrial Revolution, thanks to its rich deposits of clay, iron and coal.  Its world-renowned ceramics industry gave Stoke-on-Trent a reputation as a centre for creative excellence and world-class products, a feature it retains to this day.
