About Telford and Shropshire

Situated on the border of England and Wales, Shropshire is a mix of beautiful countryside, historic houses and gardens, castles and museums and traditional market towns. Visitors marvel at the stunning views from the Stiperstones or the rugged countryside around Long Mynd.

Shropshire is internationally renowned for its quality food and drink produce.  Ludlow has more Michelin starred restaurants than anywhere else in the UK outside London and the county also hosts a number of prestigious food and drink festivals and events such as the Ludlow Food and Drink Festival, Shrewsbury Real Ale Festival and the Church Stretton and Bishop Castle Ale Trail.

As one of England’s most sparsely populated counties, agriculture and its related industries continue to play an important part of the Shropshire economy. Other strong industries include the service sector and tourism.

Telford is one of the UK’s most successful and fastest growing former New Towns.  Long-established communities, such as historic Ironbridge, exist side by side with the modern facilities of an indoor climate-controlled shopping centre, landscaped business parks and carefully planned housing estates.
